The Vittascience Cybersecurity Kit enables pupils and students to discover, understand, and experiment with the core principles of cybersecurity through hands-on, engaging, and progressive activities.
Designed for educational use, this kit places learners in real-life situations: intercepted communications, weak passwords, injection attacks, message encryption… all scenarios directly inspired by today’s digital world.

Thanks to an experimental approach, learners do more than study theoretical concepts: they observe, test, and understand how certain attacks work, and above all how to implement appropriate protection mechanisms.

Educational objectives

  • Understand fundamental cybersecurity concepts: confidentiality, integrity, authentication, encryption, hashing.
  • Discover common and realistic attacks: communication eavesdropping, dictionary attacks, code injection, identity theft.
  • Develop good digital security habits and strengthen critical thinking about digital practices.
  • Give meaning to computer science learning and open perspectives on cybersecurity culture and careers.

An active and progressive approach

The kit is based on a pedagogical booklet structured into independent learning paths, allowing fine-grained adaptation to the learners’ level.
Each path relies on a concrete scenario, guided experimentation, identification of security flaws, and then the introduction of defense mechanisms.

Learners manipulate several BBC micro:bit boards to simulate exchanges between “honest” actors and a malicious actor, making cybersecurity concepts visual, concrete, and easy to understand.

Recommended levels and uses

  • Lower secondary education: use of the first learning paths, focused on clear-text communication, password protection, and basic encryption concepts.
  • Upper secondary education: particularly suited to computer science specializations, with a selection of learning paths adapted to students’ levels.
  • Higher education: especially relevant for vocational and technical programs, the project’s initial target audience, with the possibility to explore more advanced scenarios.

Some learning paths, especially those dealing with certificates and trusted third parties, are more demanding and are primarily intended for upper secondary or higher education audiences.

This cybersecurity awareness kit was developed as part of a national project, in partnership with Inria, PTCC, France 2030, and Campus Cyber.
